Program Policies and Procedures
What age does the P.A.W. Prints Program Serve?
The P.A.W. Prints Program is geared towards ages 2 to 10, however, all ages are welcome to join. We try to tailor activities for the classes to the current enrollees for each class.
Can unenrolled siblings attend class with a P.A.W. Prints Program enrollee?
Siblings under 18 months of age may attend with an enrolled participant at no cost. Siblings will be required to enroll if they are over 18 months of age or if they are utilizing class materials and participating regularly in class activities. There is a 50% off discount for siblings after the first paid enrollee at full price.
The exception to this would be, if a sibling needs to attend due to a scheduling changes (i.e. a day off of at school) they can attend and participate in up to 2 class days without enrolling. Families are asked to notify the teacher if an extra child needs to attend so that they can prepare any necessary materials.
Are refunds offered?
If a refund is requested 24 hours before the first class of the session, families can receive a full refund minus a 5% processing fee or a full credit towards a future session. If a refund is requested after the session of classes begins, families can receive a refund for half of the value of the remaining classes in the season.
Are credits or refunds offered for missed classes in a session?
Credits and refunds are not offered for classes missed by families. However, if more than 2 classes in one session need to be canceled by the teacher, without rescheduling, families are eligible for a refund for those canceled classes.
How to request a refund
Families may request a refund by reaching out via email to qlake@adventurous-life.com. We try to respond to emails within 48 hours.
What happens in inclement weather?
Decisions about whether it is safe to hold classes are determined by the teacher using local weather guidance and a weather chart. The teacher will update families at least 60 minutes prior to class if class will not be held by email and text message. Whenever possible, the class will be made up.
How are photos used?
Photos are taken in class as a way to document participants learning. These photos may be posted on a private facebook page that is exclusive to the P.A.W. Prints Program participants (both current and past enrollees) and their families. We do, on occasion, use photos from class on our public website and other social media to promote our program and reach more people. However if your child is in these photos, you will be contacted directly prior to us using those photos to secure your permission.
Please note, parents often choose to share pictures of their kids at play during class, as they do with many other kids activities. Those choices are up to the individual parent and are not monitored or controlled by Adventurous Life Initiative or the P.A.W. Prints Program.
How does the P.A.W. Prints Program foster a safe learning environment?
Each child must be accompanied at classes by a parent or caregiver over 18 years of age. The teacher tries to support parents/caregiver during class and will do all they reasonably can to provide an environment that allows for safe risk-taking and play. A first aid kit will be on site and can be utilized by attending adults if needed.
A few simple rules that help address most situations:
Participants should pay attention to and follow any posted signage at the location of the program. They should also follow any rules or regulations of the location of the program.
Children can explore on their own as long as they can still see and hear their parent/caregiver and the teacher
If children are taking physical risks, check in to make sure they are feeling sturdy and safe in their risk-taking and play.
Teachers do their best to give clear redirection if or when safety and the safety of others in the program or class could be compromised.
We encourage respect and aim to help children learn what their limits are while playing outside and in a way that keeps them and others out of true harm. We also encourage participants to not put things found in nature in their mouths while participating in the P.A.W. Prints Program.
P.A.W. Prints Program Approach to Health and Safety
Before class: All participants (teacher included) are asked to refer to our health checklist that includes a check for symptoms of illness, including COVID, to self-assess their current health. Please do not attend if you, or anyone attending with you, have had a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea in the last 24 hours. If you, or anyone attending with you, is too sick to attend school you are probably too sick to attend class too.
During class: All participants will be encouraged to use hand sanitizer at their arrival to class and prior to community snack time. Masks are not required.
If any participants (teacher included), and anyone attending class with you, test positive or are exposed to COVID, follow current CDC guidelines for isolation or quarantine. While in isolation or quarantine, stay home from class. If any participants, or anyone who attended class with you, test positive for COVID after participating in class, please reach out to us. We will alert participants of positive cases as we deem necessary but will not include identifying information in our alert.
